Our Story

Bringing a taste of Nigeria to the heart of Baltimore.

From Ifon, Ondo State to Belair Road

Mary's journey began in a bustling kitchen in Ifon, a beautiful town in Ondo State, Nigeria, where she learned the art of traditional cooking from her grandmother. The air was always filled with the aroma of rich spices, simmering stews, and the sounds of laughter. These weren't just meals; they were celebrations of family, culture, and life.

When Mary moved to Baltimore, she brought these precious recipes with her. She dreamed of sharing the authentic, vibrant flavors of her childhood with her new community. After years of cooking for friends and family who couldn't get enough of her jollof rice and egusi soup, she opened Mary's Catering & African Restaurant in 2008.

Today, Mary continues her grandmother's legacy, preparing every dish with the same love, care, and commitment to authentic techniques and fresh, organic ingredients that made her grandmother's cooking so special back in Ifon.
